Food and local cuisine
As well as in the rest of Cyprus, the same in Limassol you can discover a wide variety of traditional food products. With a long tradition in meze (starters), here you can taste local halloumi cheese, usually accompanied by cool fruits, local soup avgolemoni, bulgur with tomato, vine leaves with rice (koupepia) and talatouri (similar to the Greek tzatziki). Meat lovers should try the traditional seftalia, lountza and afelia (pork with coriander). How to use transportation in Limassol
Transfer from/to Limassol
The two airports of Cyprus are Larnaca and Paphos which are located 69 and 61 kms away from Limassol respectively. You can find cheap flights to both airports departing from Athens, Thessaloniki or other European airports. Your transfer from the airport to Limassol is served by public buses and ticket prices start from 1.50 euros. Another but a little more expensive option is to use a taxi or rent a car.
Public transportation
Limassol has a very organized public transport system. Local buses cover all destinations in and out of other cities. Tickets can be purchased from the bus drivers and prices start from 1.50 euros per route.
