The picturesque port of Linaria is the first thing you will see when you reach the island. About ten km away from the port, you will find the picturesque town of Skyros with its whitewashed houses, which are spread amphitheatrically built on the hill of the Byzantine Castle. Enjoy in the picturesque alleys of Chora the smell of jasmine and basil.
Going up you will find the Byzantine Castle and reaching the top of the hill the monastery of Agios Georgios from where you will enjoy the magnificent view against the backdrop of the whole Aegean! Visit the Archaeological and Folklore Museum.
Do not leave a speck of the island unexplored, only then you will feel the uniqueness of Skyros. Apart from Chora, explore the other settlements: Molos, Aspous, Atsitsa and Acherounes, there you will find the municipal Hypodrome, with the famous small Skyrian horses!
In Skyros there are some of the most beautiful beaches in Greece. Clear waters, golden beaches with pine trees reaching the sea. Agios Petros, Pefkos, Gyrismata, Kyra Panagia, Agalipa, Pouria are some of them.

Skyros is an island for all seasons. In summer you can enjoy diving in its clear blue and crystal clear waters. In spring and autumn you can explore its mountain villages, mountains and trails.
How to use transportation in Skyros
Airport/port transfer options
For Skyros you can travel either by plane from the airport of Athens (duration about 40 minutes) and Thessaloniki (duration 45 minutes), or by boat from the port of Kimi (duration about 1 hour and 40 minutes) with regular services throughout time.
The airport is 14 km away from Skyros Town. Access to / from the airport can be by bus, taxi or rental car.
To move inside Skyros, it is a good idea to have your own car. But even if you do not, there are intercity bus routes that connect the country with most settlements.
Alternatively, you can rent a car there.
