Lemnos, a hidden treasure on the edge of the Aegean

Start to know Lemnos from Myrina the capital and main port of the island. Stroll along the cobbled streets with the picturesque old houses and the cafes with the flowered courtyards. Climb up to the Byzantine Castle that dominates the town. Dozens of deer live around the hill of the Castle! Visit the Archaeological Museum with the important findings from the excavations that have been done on the island. Take a thermal bath in Therma (4 km from Myrina).
On the Northeast part of the island, visit the Ancient Volcano and just opposite, the Sanctuary of Kaveira, a complex of buildings in which the famous Kaviria Mysteries took place.
One of the most impressive landscapes you will encounter in Lemnos, are the famous Sand Dunes. Golden dunes, an authentic miniature of the Sahara in the heart of the Aegean! And when you are full of sun and sand, head to the beach of Gomati with its golden sand and beautiful crystal-clear water to cool off. Lemnos has many beautiful beaches. Among those that stand out are the beaches of Keros, Neftina, Kokkina, Plati, Diapori, Thanos and Romanos Gialos.

Lemnos has a long gastronomic tradition. In the traditional taverns of the island try: Flomaria (local pasta), Pies with herbs and pumpkin, fresh fish and seafood, local rusks, Kalathaki and Melichloro cheese and the famous local Muscat wine with many distinctions.
Leaving the island, do not forget to take with you, thyme honey and Venizelika, the local walnut and chocolate sweets.

Lemnos is an all-seasons island. In the summer to enjoy diving in its clear blue and crystal-clear waters. In spring and autumn to explore its mountain villages, Gorges, and trails.
