How to use transportation in Alonissos
Port transfer options
The port of Alonissos is Patitiri and is located in the southeast of the island. Alonissos is connected by ferry throughout the year with the port of Volos in mainland Greece as well as with the port of Mantoudi in Evia.
The trip by ferry Volos - Alonissos lasts 3.5-4 hours, while the duration of the journey from Mantoudi to Alonissos is around 2 hours. Skiathos with its international airport is the nearest island connection.
Other choices are the airports of Thessaloniki (about 200 klm from the port of Volos) and Athens (about 350 klm from Volos)
Local transportation
Alonissos offers many transportation options if you do not have your own means of transport.
There are bus services between Patitiri and the Old Town from June to September with daily services, but also a route to the port of Steni Vala. Transportation to Alonissos is also possible by taxi - which also operates by telephone - while there are several options for renting a vehicle.
