Chios has a long gastronomic tradition and fine local products. In the traditional taverns of the island try: fresh fish and seafood, squid, Atherina pies, turmeric balls, meatballs, spaghetti "hands", zucchini flowers, mastelo, malathropita, sfougato. And all this accompanied by the famous local ouzo or Ariousio wine produced in Chios since antiquity.
However, apart from the trademark product of Chios Mastic, leaving the island do not forget to take with you the excellent quality local products such as honey, Chios tangerines, pastries, walnut pie, olives and Suma (an alcoholic drink distilled from grapes or figs)
