Caracas, a modern and dynamic city
Located on the north coast, Caracas is the capital of Venezuela, hidden deep in a 3,300-foot valley above sea level, Caracas is surrounded by the majestic mountains of Cordillera de la Costa, which depart from the Caribbean, featuring an admirable blend of natural attractions and landscapes.
Caracas is a fairly dynamic city of great historical and cultural beauty that offers easy access to many resorts of the popular islands of the Caribbean, among which Aruba, the Dutch Antilles, Grenada, Barbados and Saint Lucia.
Caracas is a cosmopolitan city, with heavy traffic congestion and noise,
but also a city with many contrasts. In Caracas there are shocking inequalities among its inhabitants that characterize the economic situation of Venezuela. They range from very poor neighborhoods in the city's hills, called "barrios”, to the modern business district of El Rosal, Las Mercedes, Sabana Grande and La Castellana or even the huge mansions of the rich neighborhoods.
Plaza Bolívar, Plaza El Venezolano and Plaza Diego Ibarra are the most emblematic spots of the historic center. More ever, the capital of Venezuela is an exciting city to explore, filled with excellent architecture, food and a vibrant nightlife.
Food and local cuisine
Caracas is a cosmopolitan city known for its gastronomy. It has restaurants inspired by the cuisine of many different countries and cultures due to the large waves of migration from Europe and the Middle East after the Second World War. In general, coconuts, peppers, seafood, goat, corn and pasta dishes are part of the mixture that make up its Venezuelan cuisine.
Coconut dishes are plentiful while aspes (a kind of bread or pancake) are traditionally cooked with maize everywhere in Venezuela. The city is filled with popular restaurants in towering shopping malls due to safety concerns. Sabana Grande is the bohemian district of the city where you can enjoy flavors from all over the world.
Best time to visit Caracas
In Caracas the weather is always pleasant so it becomes a destination for the whole year. But you will meet the most ideal weather conditions between January and March.
