Visit Heidelberg and enjoy an unprecedented travel experience in a city that offers an impressive canvas of historical and cultural treasures
On the banks of the Neckar River, in a sloping valley in the state of Baden-Württemberg, lies Heidelberg, beautiful and picturesque, a city of great history and cultural culture and an important campus, which attracts the academic interest of Europe and the world. Taken from a medieval fairy tale, Heidelberg retains the glamor of its historical past, highlights its innovative and modern profile and emerges as a popular tourist destination, through the plethora of options and experiences it offers to every visitor.
With the aura of romanticism prevailing in every corner of the city and with the Art Nouveau and Renaissance aesthetics defining the architectural profile of the historic center of the old town (Altstadt), Heidelberg continues to offer endless surprises and excitement. The imposing Schloss Castle, also known as the Palace, dominates the hillside of Koenigstuhl, offering the city's enormous panorama
and at its foot the atmospheric historic center, full of cobbled streets, picturesque squares and architectural monuments. The pedestrian street Hauptstrasse, one of the largest in Europe, passes through the main square Marktplatz, hosting the Charles Arch, the magnificent City Hall and the iconic Cathedral of the Holy Spirit, while the idyllic walk along the Philos of the river, refreshes all the senses and leads to the medieval arched bridge Alte Brucke. The Baroque statues, which adorn it and the mysterious, bronze sculpture of the Heidelberg Monkey, become landmarks of the city, showing, at the same time, the road to the great Universitat Platz, with the old University and the infamous Student Prison provoking admiration. A romantic cruise on the blue waters of the Danube will ideally complement the acquaintance with Heidelberg, fulfilling every travel expectation and putting the city in your heart.
