Great Mosque
Medinais full of beautifully renovated examples of traditional Tunisian architecture. The Grand Mosque was built in the 15th century and was renovated in 1972. Its rectangular minaret is a particularly good example of Islamic architecture. Unfortunately, non-Muslims cannot enter the building.
Kasbah
The Kasbah of Hammamet, built in the 13th century, is not as well preserved or impressive as the Kasbah of Sousse, but it is worth a visit. There is an interesting museum which explains the colorful story of hammamet pirates and later the Spanish occupation.
Medina
Surrounded by the original walls of the 15th century, Hammamet's labyrinth of narrow and winding narrow streets like stripes in Medina (old town) is home to a rich and well-preserved traditional Tunisian architecture. Some of the alleys have been covered, so even in the summer heat, Medina remains cool and shady.
Hammamet Cultural Center
The Cultural Centre is housed in the luxurious Sebastian villa. George Sebastian, a wealthy Romanian who settled in Hammamet in the early 20th century, built the structure in the 1920s. It is open daily for visitors to walk and admire the architecture and the small contemporary art exhibitions that take place.
