The Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam Botanical Gardens
Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam Botanical Gardens is one of the island's most famous attractions and its striking focal point is a lake full of Victoria amazonica water lilies - originating only from South America. These incredible flowers bloom white and then turn red the next day.
Lake Bassin
This lake with high mountains, about 1800 feet above sea level, is a sacred Hindu site. You will find a temple dedicated to Lord Shiva and there is a local belief that the water of the lake is sacred water from the river Ganges in India.
Mahébourg

There is a nice little museum here with exhibits that describe in detail the British-French battle for the island.

The Seven Colored Earths is a very special natural phenomenon. Their wavy ground shines with different ones that come out late in the afternoon when the sun is low in the sky. On the way you will also pass the 90 m. Chamarel Waterfall.
