Greece-Turkey Cooperation in the Tourism Sector
The two workshops held in Thessaloniki and Athens under the theme “Tourist Destinations in Turkey & Greece-Turkey Cooperation in the Tourism Sector” were successfully completed, bringing together more than 200 tourism professionals from both countries.
The events were organized by the Türkiye Tourism Promotion and Development Agency (TGA) and the Turkish Culture and Tourism Office in Athens, with the support of institutions such as TÜROB, HATTA, FedHATTA, and the Association of Travel Agencies of Macedonia-Thrace.
Their objective was to promote key destinations in Turkey (Istanbul, Cappadocia, the Aegean coast, and the Black Sea region) and to strengthen tourism-related business collaborations between Greece and Turkey.
Notable attendees included the Ambassador of Turkey, Mr. Çağatay Erciyes, the Consul General of Turkey in Thessaloniki, Mr. Serkan Gedik, and the President of TÜROB, Ms. Müberra Eresin.
From the Greek side, Mr. Lysandros Tsilidis, President of FedHATTA, and Mr. Vyron Theologis, President of the Association of Travel Agencies of Macedonia-Thrace, attended and addressed the participants.
The event in Thessaloniki also featured the participation of Mr. Theodoros Makris, CEO of Mazi Travel & Events, in both the workshop and the B2B meetings, confirming the importance that the private sector places on advancing Greece-Turkey tourism cooperation.
Particular interest was drawn by the presentation of Ms. Zeynep Üçok Çelikağ (TGA), who highlighted Turkey’s top tourist destinations. The B2B meetings that followed created new opportunities for partnerships and increased tourism flows between the two countries.
