Wine Tourism and Sustainability in Thessaloniki
Mazi Travel’s Participation in the CLLD/LEADER Thematic Workshop
Mazi Travel had the honor of participating in the Thematic Workshop organized by the Development Agency of Thessaloniki within the framework of the Interterritorial Cooperation Project “Organization and Promotion of Wine Tourism.” The event took place on July 29, 2025, at Blé vin – Cava/Winebar, focusing on the promotion of wine tourism as a driver for sustainable local development.
During the presentation by Mazi Travel’s Sustainability Coordinator, Yiannis Kalogiannidis, special emphasis was placed on best practices and the potential of experiential wine tourism through synergies with winemakers, local producers, and hospitality businesses. Under the motto “Creating Connections, Experiences, and Growth,” he highlighted the role of DMCs in shaping authentic travel experiences centered on culture, gastronomy, and sustainability.
The event featured expert presentations, tastings of local wine varieties, and food pairing with traditional Macedonian delicacies, showcasing the potential of the Lagkadas, Volvi, Chalkidona, Thermi, Thermaikos, and Oraiokastro areas as emerging wine tourism destinations.
Mazi Travel actively supports the enhancement of the local wine identity and integrates wine tourism as a key pillar of its sustainable travel experiences.
