Volos is the ancient Iolkos, the mythic starting point of Jason and his Argonauts. The second biggest city and a Greek port, this modern city has an important heritage and museums of Roman and Byzantine History, with ancient buildings retracing its past. Volos is one of the largest and most attractive cities in Greece as well as one of the country’s most prominent ports. The modern city is built near the site of ancient Iolcos and dominates the region of Magnesia. From its position at the foot of Mount Pelion is overlooking the Pagasetic Gulf, which is a superb natural harbor that’s sheltered by the long arm of the Pelion Peninsula, curving to the east.

Arrival at Thessaloniki
Arrival at Thessaloniki. Welcome and transfer to the hotel - Free afternoon. We suggest a walk to discover the vibes of the City.

Thessaloniki city tour
In the morning, guided tour of the city. Thessaloniki throughout the era of the Byzantine Empire was the “co-reigning” city, second in population and prestige after Istanbul. Visit the unique monuments and feel the glorious Byzantine past in some of the oldest and most characteristic churches of the Christian world. Visit the best sites that represent the historical and cultural significance of Thessaloniki. These sites include the White Tower, the Old city in the upper part of Thessaloniki, the Saint Demetrios Church and many others. Free time for lunch. Afternoon free to enjoy the bustling center of the city.

Kalampaka - Meteora – Volos
Breakfast and depart for Kalambaka, a small town situated at the foot of the astonishing complex of the Meteora, perched on top of huge rocks, which seem to be suspended in mid-air, stand ageless Monasteries, where you can see exquisite specimens of Byzantine art. Depart from Kalambaka, drive through the striking plain of Thessaly arrival at Volos.

City tour Volos – Pelion
Breakfast and we start the city tour to Volos. Vibrant air is boosted considerably by the large student population that attend the University of Thessaly, the faculties of which are based in abandoned industrial and neoclassical buildings. The city has its fair share of excellent museums and art Galleries the most important being the Archaeological Museum.
We continue to Pelion the land in mythology of Centaurs. Pelion is well known for its traditional villages composing in harmony with the natural environment. In each village there are natural paths ideal for trekking and exploring, that leading to majestic sceneries, green ravines or forests with chestnut and plain trees.
