Athens – Peloponnese

Arrival at the Athens airport – transfer to the hotel by Luxury bus. Dinner and Overnight.

The striking contrast between breath-taking monuments of a glorious past and modern elegant structures, is what you will enjoy during your tour of Athens. Visit the Acropolis, the crowning beauty and glory of Ancient Athens. Drive to the Roman Temple of Olympic Zeus, the Panathenaic Stadium (site of the first modern Olympic Games in 1896), the Tomb of the unknown Soldier in front of the Parliament House on Constitution Square. See views of government buildings and elegant structures of the 19th century. Drive along Panepistimiou Avenue and view the Academy, University, National Library. Conclude your tour with a visit to the new Acropolis museum, a marvel of architecture with a full exhibition of the glory of Ancient Athens. Dinner and overnight in Athens.

Depart from Athens to Nafplion, first capital of Greece. Visit the Corinth Canal. Visit the Mycenae archaeological site, tomb of Agamemnon and archaeological museum. Drive to Epidaurus, where you will have a private guided tour of the famous Amphitheatre and site. Drive back to Nafplion visit of the Palamidi Castle.

Dinner and overnight in Tolo.

We leave Nafplion in the morning. We’ll drive south by the scenic coast of the Argolis Gulf. From Astros we will turn to Central Peloponnese, (Arcadia), through the village of Agios Petros (short stop) and then off to Karies on the slopes of the mount Parnon. Shortly we will arrive in Sparti, the modern town was developed in the reign of King Otto after 1834. We will visit the archaeological site, the Acropolis and the theatre of Ancient Sparta and then on to visit the Medieval state of Mystras, once the second most important town of the Byzantine Empire.

Dinner and overnight in Mystras or Sparti.

Leave Sparti behind us for Monemvasia, which is built on an island rock attached by a causeway to the mainland. On the way we will visit Githeo, a seaside town. Then drive on to Areopolis a large village, with taverns, tower houses and churches. We will visit Vathia  and Kita two the most impressive tower communities typical example of the architecture of Mani.

Dinner and overnight in Kalamata.

We leave for Olympia driving along the coast of the Ionian Sea. On the way we will visit the ancient Messini, one of the nicest and biggest archaeological sites in Greece. Arrive late afternoon in Olympia.

Visit the ruins of Olympia the Sanctuary of the Olympian Zeus and the Museum. This is the largest archaeological site of Greece. There you will see for yourself the grandeur of the ancient sanctuary which through the Olympic Games was a symbol of Greek unity the cradle of the Olympic Games. Later in the afternoon we depart for Athens.

Overnight in Athens.

After Breakfast transfer to the airport for the flight back home.
