Mazi Travel Presents its Commitment to Sustainable Tourism at Philoxenia 2025
Presentation “Sustainability Practices in Tourism: From Theory to Application”
Within the framework of Philoxenia 2025, Mazi Travel presented its comprehensive sustainable tourism approach, which it follows in all phases of its operation and in its supply chain, as well as the important role of corporate culture in its path towards Sustainability, on Friday, November 14, at the Open Stage / Pavilion 13. The speech focused on three main pillars: Environment & Tourism, Supply Chain, Corporate Culture & Leadership, and presented specific practices and measurable results.
The speaker of the presentation, Yiannis Kalogiannidis — Sustainability Coordinator at Mazi Travel — outlined key issues concerning the environmental footprint of tourism activity and then described measures and initiatives the company implemented during its transition to sustainable operations and the adoption of related practices. “Change is not competitive, but collective…” Mr. Kalogiannidis said, adding, “The adoption of sustainability practices begins with the company’s culture…”.
Next, from the Research & Development – Digital Innovations department, Mr. Stamatis Parthenis presented the Cropicorn application, which was designed by Mazi Travel to save resources (paper, energy, water) in the printing of Acropolis tickets, achieving a significant reduction in paper use and electricity consumption, while also cutting the staff time required to issue the tickets.
The development of the Cropicorn application is an initiative of the company that falls under the actions of the Twin Transition framework, which refers to the simultaneous integration of the green transition (sustainability and decarbonization) and the digital transition (digitization). This concept recognizes that these two changes are interconnected and can mutually reinforce one another, with digital technologies serving as a powerful tool to achieve sustainability goals, such as reducing emissions, promoting renewable energy sources, and applying circular economy principles.
Mr. Parthenis emphasized that the future momentum of tourism depends on the digital and green transitions, in collaboration with European programs, organizations, and suppliers.
The aim of the presentation was to raise public awareness about Sustainability in Tourism, and to develop communication with bodies and businesses in the Tourism Industry to create synergies within the Green Transition framework.
Mazi Travel, embracing the principle “Sharing is Caring,” provides the Cropicorn application free of charge to businesses in the sector so that both companies and the environment can benefit.
