Edipsos is a village located far north on the island of Evoia which is in close proximity to the mainland of Greece. Its association with thermal underground water can be traced back in the mythical times. According to the legend, the hot springs of the area were created when the Olympic god Hephaestus, protector of fire and metalworking, beat the land with his hammer to please goddess Athena, who wanted mythical hero Hercules to bath in the spring and be kept healthy and powerful.
