Itinerary
Arrival in Thessaloniki - Optional city tour - First acquaintance with local cuisine
At Thessaloniki airport you will pick up your car and drive to your hotel for check-in. We suggest your first bite to be Tsoureki or bougatsa, traditional greek pastries at one of the oldest and most popular pastry shops of the city, accompanied with a delicious greek coffee. Have a walk to Modiano and Kapani markets. Modiano Market, the Central Food Market of Thessaloniki, is not only the largest and most modern covered market but also a social gathering place. As for the open air Kapani market is traditional and you can get an incredibly unique experience. Take the Open-Top Hop-On/Hop-Off Bus for a sightseeing tour. Enjoy Thessaloniki at your leisure, visiting old and new landmarks. Continue visiting Ladadika area - a vibrant entertainment hub where cobbled streets teem with lively tavernas, bistros and espresso bars housed in former olive oil shops. Enjoy the traditional food in a Greek taverna and the evening atmosphere of the city, after your dinner you can walk along the promenade,and visit one of the nice bars. Return to the hotel, overnight stay.
Optional visit to museums - Food experience by the sea
Have a delicious breakfast - do not miss the chance to try Koulouri, a Greek type of prechel. Today we suggest visiting two importand museums. The Archaeological Museum of Thessaloniki and the Museum of Byzantine Culture. Continue by driving to Kalamaria, the Riviera of Thessaloniki and have lunch at the oldest and most popular Seafood taverns of the city. This is the first outdoor fish tavern on the sea shore of Kalamaria, which still stands today in the same place which opened its door 95 years ago. Enjoy delicious food and a magnificent view of the sunset at the sea. Return to the hotel, overnight stay.
Optional city tour to the castle with a bite of a mix of Greek and Turkish cuisine
Start your day with a nice traditional greek breakfast in the hotel and then visit Ano Poli (Upper city) the old part of the city builded inside the ancient walls to admire the old buildings and architecture dating back to the Byzantine empire. Have lunch at an old traditional Greek tavern dating back from 1885 where you can try ouzo accompanied with Greek delicacies. On the way back make a stop at a great patisserie that operates in Greece for more than 100 years where you can try amazing Greek sweets.For the evening have dinner at a restaurant with a more gourmet approach to the Greek cuisine located at Ladadika in the most vibrant neighborhood of the city center. Overnight.
Optional visit to a Greek Winery and traditional seafood tavern with sunset
Start your day with a nice breakfast at the hotel and then visit a winery located in the eastern suburbs of the city. Drive to Peraia region where you can have lunch at one of the authentic greek seafood taverns that are located on the long promenade of thermaikos riviera.Return to the hotel.
Departure from Thessaloniki
Check-out from the hotel and drive to the airport of Thessaloniki for your flight. Have a good flight!
