In the Capital
The city or "the capital", as the locals say, is the only settlement in Kastelorizo. The picturesque port with the colorful mansions and alleys that lead you to the highest points of the island. Visit both museums of the island: the folklore museum, which is housed in a former mosque, and the archeological museum.
Walk to the island
Kastelorizo is a rocky island crossed by old paths. Get ready to discover this forgotten land on foot. Scattered with abandoned chapels, hidden coves, ancient ruins and old farms, the island is definitely admirable on foot, as cars and motorcycles are forbidden.
The castle of the Knights of St. John
At the top of the hill, an imposing staircase leads to the ruins of the Castle of the Knights of St. John, which gave its name to the island - thanks to the red rock on which it stood, this was the "Castello Rosso". Offers great views of Turkey.
One of the things worth doing in Kastelorizo is to visit the cave and swim in the clear blue waters! Sunlight in the water gives an impressive result. The entrance is very small, so small that you will probably pass without seeing it, so it is good to go with a captain.
Perfectly preserved tomb of the 4th BC with a Doric facade, carved at the foot of the Castle. "Lycians" were the name given to the inhabitants of the opposite region of Asia Minor (Lycia), because their god, Lycian Apollo, was worshiped as a werewolf (killer of wolves).
