Ancient Eretria
Ancient Eretria was a great naval power with a prominent school of philosophy where it was destroyed in 87 BC by the Roman commander Sulla. The most fascinating place is the House of Mosaics (370 BC), with pebble mosaics depicting mythological scenes.
Ancient Theater of Eretria
The ancient theater of Eretria is perhaps the most important attraction of the city. It was built at the beginning of the 5th BC., after the Persian invasion and flourished in the 4th century BC. The number of spectators is estimated at 6,300.
Island of Dreams
Next to Eretria is the "Island of Dreams". You can reach the island on foot, since it is connected by a small strip of land, for this reason it is also called Pezonisi. Its beaches are blue with crystal clear waters.
Wineries
The vineyards of the Lykos family produce the award-winning whites of Malagouzia, among other fine wines, which marry traditional and innovative techniques. Visitors are welcome to tour and taste three to four wines at the winery, 4.5 km west of Eretria.
