Sail in History is a thematic sailing cruise based on the ancient nautical routes that were followed during the colonisation of Magna Graecia, the coastal areas of southern Italy, by various ancient Greek city-states from the 8th to 5th centuries BCE.
The sailing cruise is characterised by a rich offer of cultural and environmental experiences for the participants. In practical terms, during the sailing, and also during the stops in the various harbours, the participants will have the unique opportunity to be involved in exciting activities of various disciplines related to the sea and in particular to the history and culture of ancient Greece and its colonies at the coastal areas of Southern Italy.
Lefkada Island amazes visitors with the exotic blue colour of its beaches, delicious cuisine and traditional products. Smaller islands like Skorpios and Meganisi belong in the regional unit of Lefkada.
Kefalonia is the largest of the Ionian Islands. Beautiful beaches with crystal blue waters and picturesque villages combine for a unique and unforgettable experience.
Ithaca is a small island known for its preserved beauty with multiple bays that served the Corinthians during the archaic period as a base for their expeditions to the West.

Itinerary
The Bali 4.1 is a beautifully designed and spacious catamaran that offers a perfect blend of comfort, luxury, and performance. Preveza, Lefkada Island
Upon arrival at Preveza's port, embark on the catamaran and set sail towards Lefkada Island. During the journey, you will receive a briefing and watch a video presentation about the island of Lefkada and the route of the cruise.The first on-land activity will be the visit to the archaeological museum of Lefkada. Later, there is a sightseeing tour of the town, followed by some free time to explore the city at your leisure. In the evening, you can have dinner at a restaurant with stunning sea views before returning to the catamaran for overnight accommodation on board.
Meganisi and Vathi Islands
Sail towards Steno Nydri, followed by Scorpios Island, where a stop for a swim is scheduled. Depart to Meganisi Island.
Meganisi Island boasts of two enchanting hill villages, Spatahori and Katomerion. Additionally, there are numerous quiet and sheltered anchorages around the deeply indented coast.
In the evening, we suggest dinner in the port of Vathi before returning to the catamaran for the night.
Day at Agiofylli Beach, Lefkada Island
The catamaran will depart for Agiofylli beach, where there will be a stop for swimming and other activities. Video presentation on pottery-making and subsequent activity. After the activity, the catamaran will depart for Sivota, Lefkada Island.
During the journey, participants will watch a video about ancient Greek food and participate in a discussion of the following activity. Dinner on board inspired by Ancient Greek dietary culture combined with wine tasting.
Sivota (Lefkada) – Kefalonia Island
The catamaran will depart from Sivota (Lefkada) to nearby island beaches, with small stops for swimming until lunch. Scuba diving is a popular activity, and diving centers can organize diving trips upon request to the magnificent sites. Depart for Fiscardo in Kefalonia Island.
Upon arrival in the port of Fiscardo, sightseeing. During dinner, it is recommended that visitors try the famous local wine variety Robola.
Kefalonia and Ithaca Islands
Sail from Fiscardo to Aetos beach in Ithaca Island. During our sailing course you will watch a video about environmental issues at the Ionian Sea and participate in a discussion about the environmental impact of microplastics. Later, there will be a visit to the Melissani Cave in Kefalonia Island for swimming and snorkelling in the mesmerising cave waters.
Lunch will be served on board accompanied by an olive oil tasting experience of various local varieties. Departure for Sami village in Kefalonia island, for sightseeing at the village. Next up, we depart for Ithaca, where there are plenty of local restaurant options at the picturesque Ithaca seafront.
Ancient Oiniades visit
Depart from Vathi, Ithaca to Astakos port in the mainland. From there, participants will be transferred to visit the archaeological site of Ancient Oiniades, an ancient city with ports and shipyards dating back to the 4th Century BC , that played an important role as a facilitator of sea trade during the Colonization era. Return to Astakos for dinner and board the catamaran for the overnight stay.
Return to Preveza
Sail from Astakos back to the island of Lefkada, stopping for a swim in the beautiful crystal-clear waters of Kastos Island, a remote island off the mainland coast. Return to the port of Preveza. Drop off and farewell the crew.
