The new route offered by the Austrian ÖBB is not the fastest, but it is the most beautiful. The train passes by Lake Constance and arrives in Innsbruck via the famous Alberg Mountain Railway. The route is long, but there is a restaurant on the train and you will definitely see scenery that you could only enjoy by rail.

Ljubljana - Budapest (via Graz)

For several years now there has been a direct rail connection between Budapest and Ljubljana, but this new line follows an unusual, more scenic route, which even crosses the once "iron curtain" twice. The best time to do this trip is in June, when the sun rises at 5 am in Ljubljana. The train starts at 05:05 AM.

Spain continues to expand its high-speed train network. Adding 120 kilometers of new rail line cut the journey from Madrid to picturesque Santiago de Compostela by another 70 minutes. A decade ago, this magnificent route was done in over 7 hours. Now not even in half the year. Note that if you are planning a trip to the capital of Spain it is quite easy to see other cities as well.
