Mazi Travel is proud to announce the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the EU Project CREAMARE, marking a significant step in promoting sustainability, cultural preservation, and innovative educational outreach in the tourism sector.

Advancing Sustainability through Collaboration

The CREAMARE Project is a pioneering initiative that fosters trans-national cooperation and brings together cultural organisations, scientific and research bodies, creative professionals, and technology experts to co-produce digital applications and media content. Its core mission is to communicate, disseminate, and promote Underwater Cultural Heritage (UCH) while simultaneously raising awareness about pressing social and environmental issues, such as marine pollution and threats to ocean health. Through a holistic, cross-sectoral model, CREAMARE fosters participatory design and co-production, ensuring that cultural, scientific, and technological expertise converge to create impactful educational tools.

“CREAMARE: The Game” – Infotainment with a Purpose

A flagship output of the Project is “CREAMARE: The Game,” an innovative serious game designed to immerse players in real Mediterranean shipwrecks recreated in 3D. This first-person adventure blends exploration, historical discovery, and environmental puzzles, challenging players to confront threats born from pollution and human negligence. Unlike traditional educational games, “CREAMARE: The Game” delivers knowledge organically through gameplay, allowing users to learn about underwater heritage and environmental protection in an engaging, interactive manner. By solving real-world problems—such as the impact of oil spills on ancient wrecks—players gain a deeper understanding of the importance of preserving both cultural heritage and marine ecosystems. The game is available on two platforms, and you can download it (for children over 13 years old) to your computer free of charge:

Aligning with Mazi Travel’s Sustainability Values

This MoU reflects Mazi Travel’s unwavering commitment to sustainability and responsible tourism. As a Travelife Certified company, Mazi Travel consistently strives to minimise its environmental impact, support local communities, and promote positive social change. Our sustainability policy emphasises conservation, cultural exchange, and the adoption of best practices in environmental stewardship. Recent initiatives, such as our investment in renewable energy and participation in international ESG assessments, further demonstrate our dedication to sustainable growth and climate action.

The partnership with CREAMARE is a natural extension of these values. By supporting the development and dissemination of educational tools like “CREAMARE: The Game,” Mazi Travel aims to inspire travelers, partners, and the broader public to appreciate and protect underwater cultural heritage and the marine environment. This collaboration underscores our belief that tourism can be a force for good—fostering awareness, education, and sustainable practices for the benefit of future generations.

 Looking Forward

Through this strategic alliance, Mazi Travel and CREAMARE will work together to integrate sustainability into both tourism experiences and educational outreach. We invite our partners, clients, and the wider community to join us on this journey toward a more sustainable and culturally rich future.
